Beneath the light

September 25, 2017

Join a Ranger on a revealing discovery into one of Australia’s few fully operational lighthouses. Kids will be fascinated by the mechanical operations of this marine navigational aid and history of the site. The activity includes an insight into the history of the Cape Schanck light station through story telling followed by a guided tour up into the lighthouse.

Please note this tour involves stair climbing, narrow spaces and heights, and may not be suitable for people with pre-existing health conditions or limited mobility, or young children. Prams and toddler back packs cannot be taken inside the lighthouse. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times including when inside the lighthouse. Access to the upper lighthouse balcony may be restricted on the day due to weather conditions. The number of people permitted inside the lighthouse at anyone time is restricted according to AMSA regulations – please ensure only booked children and an adult attend to avoid disappointment for others that may join you on the day.
