Help protect our St Kilda Little Penguin colony. Join us as we explore the life of Little Penguins, their native friends, and the threats they face. Help us to protect these critters by collecting marine debris (rubbish) from their homes as we explore their habitat.
This activity is suitable for children aged 8-14, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over.
Please bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and wear enclosed shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. It gets very cold on the Breakwater even in Summer so wrap up warmly! All participants must also bring gloves.
Please note, this activity will involve walking on uneven surfaces and collecting litter.
Activities may be rescheduled, changed or cancelled due to adverse weather or for emergency response.
Please meet at the entrance to St Kilda Pier, at the point where it meets the land. Paid parking can be found around St Kilda Pier but can be busy, so please allow plenty of time to find a space to park and money for a parking ticket if needed. The event will conclude at 9:00pm, after which time participants are welcome to remain in the public-access area of the colony to watch penguins return home from their fishing journey. This usually occurs in the hour or two following sunset.
